My Three Point Framework for Tutoring
1) Low Stress Start
We always start with a chat to find out how your child is doing. This gives me a chance to identify any specific problems we need to address. There is no point in starting anything until your child is in the right place mentally.
-> Reduces anxiety and cognitive load as the student has control.
2) First Principles to Complexity
We go back to basics, to find the starting point for your child. Then we discuss why the process has to be more complex and build from there. Everything is a story.
-> Removes surface level jargon and provides the underlying mechanics which neurodivergent and/or high achieving students need to progress.
3) Observation
I carefully watch to ensure your child understands the concepts. This is why I love online tutoring, because it is easier to observe face to face and there is less masking.
-> There is more than one way to describe any concept.

How are masterclasses different?
To be honest the structure is the same, but there is less personalisation or chat. They are more focussed on the content than the student. Everyone is however encouraged to participate using chat or private Q and A. Videos and microphones can be avoided.

Real Life Story: From C in GCSE Biology to an A in A level Biology and Life as a Physiotherapist
Sally achieved a C in GCSE Biology. In the 6th form she decided she wanted to be a physiotherapist. She worked really hard and with my specialist tutorial support she got the A grade. I did a happy dance to “House of Fun!” as Madness were playing at a local festival and we could hear Suggs singing his heart out in the distance. She is now a successful physiotherapist.
