Dr Jo Nash understands and respects that your privacy is very important when using the website and her services.  Personal data is only collected and used in the ways described in the policy below and this meets your rights under the law.

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared.  Personal data is information which can identify an individual such as name, address, telephone number.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Tutoring

When you book a tuition service with Dr Jo Nash the following is collected:

  • Your name and contact information, including email address and telephone number.
  • Your age, subjects you are taking and the exam board you are sitting for your science exams.
  • Your current grades and aspiration grades.
  • Your billing information, transaction, and payment card information
  • Your contact history, purchase history and saved items

The above personal information is collected to tailor tuition services to meet your needs and it is collected as it is necessary for a contract, I have with you. If you do not provide personal information asked for, it may delay or prevent me from providing the correct tuition services for your needs.

Workshops

If you book at workshop with me then the following information may be collected.

  • Your name and contact information, including email address and telephone number.
  • The exam board you are sitting for your science exams.
  • Your billing information, transaction, and payment card information
  • Your contact history, purchase history and saved items

Recordings

For safeguarding reasons, I record all tutoring sessions and workshops. These are stored on my personal computer.

If you want to see a tutoring recording please contact me and I will send you a copy via wetransfer.

After the workshops the recording is uploaded to YouTube where is is only available via an unlisted link. Students will receive the link after the workshop. All cameras and microphones, except mine, are off during the content part of the workshop. During the discussion, it is up to the attendees whether or not they want to engage with camera and/or microphones.

Shop:

When you visit the shop, I will track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: I’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed

When you make a purchase, I will ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, and credit card/payment details. This information is used for purposes such as:

  • Sending you information about your order
  • Responding to your requests
  • Processing payments and preventing fraud
  • Improving my store offerings
  • E-mailing you to ask if you would like to review the product your purchased.

If you choose to review a product, your name, comment, and any media you upload will be displayed on my website, pending moderation for spam.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you submit a message via the contact form, I receive your name and email address. The purpose of this is to enable me to respond to your queries.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

If you agree to the use of cookies the following information may be collected via Google Analytics

How long I retain your data

If you have made a payment to me or received a payment from me I am required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

SHARING YOUR DATA

I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless I provide you with advance notice, except as described below. The term “outside parties” does not include website hosting partners, online facilitators such as zoom or other parties who assist me in operating my website, conducting my business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to abide by my data protection policies.

I share your Personal Information with third parties only relevant to help me use your Personal Information, as described above. For example, when using Stripe as payment service.  This organization may collect data on my behalf to ensure that you receive the correct information required.

STORAGE OF PAYMENT DETAILS

Your card details are not stored or shared with any 3rd parties.  All bookings are taken through Stripe or BACS payment.

COOKIES

To improve your experience on my site, I may use ‘cookies’. Cookies are used by most major websites. This website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. I use reports provided by Google Analytics to help me understand website traffic and webpage usage.
